How Does Aromatherapy Work?
Aromatherapy is a smell
sensation and it goes back to the time of the pyramids as a
natural holistic form of healing.
Aromatherapy works through the
healing and enjoyment powers and it's just as popular today as
it was back thousands of years ago.
Most everyone I know loves the
relaxation and pleasurable sensation that aromatherapy
brings to the stress and chaos in our
lives, I know I
do!
But the practice
of aromatherapy goes beyond smells and aromas, it can be
actually quite hypnotic! It has a chemical effect on your brain
through a fancy term ' hypophysis' which translated means it
acts on the brain centers through hormones, but the most
amazing thing about it is that it can work to regulate immune
disorders and endocrine malfunction. They are also able to
re-establish harmony and balance or ground a person to achieve
a state of equilibrium.
What all this
really means is that aromatherapy will revitalize your body,
spirit and mind. It's kind of a holistic approach to health and
well-being. The pleasure you get from these healing plants
fruits, bark and roots can influence and change our emotional
moods. It's long been known that plant and flower aromas can
balance, stimulate, relax yet rejuvenate our bodies and
spirits.
Have you ever had
a aromatherapy massage? I highly recommend it. It's a huge
testament to the powers of these scents. My last massage
therapist used Lavender, which I love. When the massage was
over I completely felt the physical balance, well-being and
emotional stability, not to mention extensive
relaxation, I'm sure
the massage helped a lot too :-)
Aromatherapy is
quite safe, especially for inhalation. Using the
essential
aromatherapy oils easily allows for skin
penetration where they can reach the vascular system and are
absorbed into the bloodstream.
Does Aromatherapy
really have healing powers?
In a simple word -
Yes!
In fact Modern scientific research has proven the
potency and healing qualities of the pure essential Oils in
Aromatherapy. Science has also shown us that many of the oils
have incredible antiviral and antibacterial qualities which do
not leave behind dangerous toxins like so many of the pharmacy
drugs we use today.
Various oils can
be used in Meditation and Yoga and many are used as
Preventative medicine for things like colds, flus and other
ailments.
What Aromatherapy is NOT
Aromatherapy is not romantic
candles, bath products or fancy scents. These things might
smell good and make you feel good but they are not always made
with 100% pure plant essence that has true, natural, healing
elements.
Only the essential oils
derived from healing plants fruits, bark and roots qualify as
true aromatherapy, but always read all directions carefully on
the uses of these various oils and consult a professional aroma
therapist when you can.
