Removing Age Spots
Removing age spots
can be done safely through the use of skin lighteners.
However, be warned that some skin
lighteners and age spot removers can cause burning and can be harmful to your skin. But also
many of them just flat out don't work.
Below is some information on what works best and some of the irritation
alerts.
Best Solutions for
removing age spots?
- Hydroquinone can
be effective but it's an irritant and can temporarily redden the skin. This isn't a good
solution for darker skin types because this irritation can over stimulate the higher
concentration of melanocytes that's found in darker
skin types.
- Liquid nitrogen therapy is a quick way to get rid of age spots.
It's typically administered by a
dermatologist who sprays the liquid nitrogen onto the age
spot causing the spot
to turn white, which typically occurs a few weeks after
treatment.
- Retin-A does work
but it can cause skin sensitivity that is experienced by swelling, redness, itching, dryness or peeling.
It's even been known to cause blistering.
- Alpha Hydroxy Peels or AHA products can cause severe redness,
swelling, blistering, burning,
blistering, rash, bleeding itching, and skin discoloration. The FDA has received numerous reports of these
adverse reactions.
- Stay out of the sun and use regular sun protection.
Unfortunately, none of the above remedies are completely safe for removing age spots without
irritating the skin.
A more natural treatment such as Vikki Lamatta's Skin Lightener, is
much healthier for your skin and will give you a much more even tone when removing age spots.
