The Facts on The Alli Weight Loss
Pill
We're all looking for the perfect pill to help make us
thin. Is Alli the miracle we're looking for?
Well, first of all Alli is FDA approved and you can
buy it over the counter at your favorite drug store. Alli is a
half dose of the prescription drug Xenical and has an
active ingredient called orlistat.
But will Alli deliver the
results you're looking for?
Alli works by preventing your body from digesting about 25%
of the fat that you consume in your foods. One
problem though. Alli requires you to limit your intake of
calories from fat or eat foods that have no more than 30% of
calories from fat. That roughly means that each meal
should not contain any more than 15 grams of fat.
If you don't do this or eat too much fat, Alli can
produce a few gastro-intestinal side effects such as diarrhea,
gas with oily discharge and possibly
incontinence. If you think about it, it's a kind
of conditioning to help you learn to eat less fat, however
diarrhea, gas and discharging may be a high price to pay
if you happen to eat more fat than is desirable.
The positive thing about Alli is it may help you to choose a
healthier lifestyle and change the way you choose the foods you
eat because you will quickly learn to avoid foods that won't
sit well.
The Alli Kit comes with a Welcome Guide, a Daily Journal,
and a Calorie and Fat Counter. You can also go online to the
Alli Website and get your Alli "myalliplan" which
is an online, customized action plan tailor made for each
individual.
Because the drug is still fairly new, there's not a lot of
compelling or convincing testimonials just yet and many experts
are not overwhelmed with its success, but it still may be too
early to tell.
The price of Alli is a little steep about $1 to $2 dollars a
day or $30-$60 a month.
Alli is considered safe for long term use however anyone
taking this drug should consult a physician first.
Particularly if you have diabetes, thyroid disease or are on
blood thinners. Also Alli can cause the loss of vitamins
such as A, D, E and K so make sure you take a multi-vitamin to
supplement.
