Anti-Aging Skin Care

As we get older we're often faced with the question of how we can look younger. So it is only fitting that we want to know what products or formulations are really the most effective?

If you've researched products at all you know that the market is bombarded with a whole host of anti-aging treatments that make it extremely hard to know what works and what doesn't.

It's best to start with the facts on what treatments and active ingredients have been clinically proven to be effective anti-aging treatments.  One of the most effective treatments is Vitamin A derivative such as Retinal or retinyl palmintate.

Retin A or Renova vitamin A treatments are the strongest Vitamin A treatments but they are also the most irritating treatments of the vitamin A options and are only available by prescription.

The good news is, however, there are alternatives.  These won't have the concentration of Retin A but for many, it is enough to do the trick on wrinkles, lines and sagging.  The vitamin A derivative, Retinyl Palmitate, is the less irritating of the Vitamin A options and is considered to have quite effective rejuvenating qualities.

Here's how I stay and look younger!

The next most beneficial anti-aging skin rejuvenation treatment is a chemical exfoliant such as an alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) or beta hydroxyl acid (BHA) product.

The most popular being the AHA glycolic acid. Glycolic acid should be use in concentrations of 8% to 15% depending on your skin’s sensitivity. Start out with a lower concentration and gradually move up to a 10% then 15% concentration depending on your skin’s tolerance.

Lastly, include an antioxidant to contain the skin damaging free radicals. This is optimal for overall skin repair. Products containing Vitamin C Ester, Spin Trap, or CoQ10 are all good options to explore.  These are also other useful anti-aging treatments such as DMAE, Kinerase or Kinetin, and GHK Copper Peptides.

Of course it should go without saying that your best fight against anti-aging is the daily use of sunscreen.  Don't ever leave home without it.

Anti-aging skin care ingredients and their properties

Vitamin A (Retinol) - Topical Vitamin A has been suggested to help build collagen fibers within the skin in addition to its more superficial exfoliating property. It aids in minimizing the appearance of fine wrinkle lines.

Vitamin C - Vitamin C or ascorbic acid acts as an antioxidant and is considered vital in wound healing because it aids in stabilizing collagen. When applied topically, vitamin C can reduce fine lines and wrinkles and can ease the severity of sunburns.

Vitamin E - Vitamin E is another antioxidant that shows to have anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. When applied topically, vitamin E can improve moisturization, softness and smoothness.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) - AHAs can smooth fine lines and surface wrinkles, improve skin's texture and tone, cleanse pores and improve acne, and improve general skin condition.

Glycolic Acid - Glycolic acid is the most active and beneficial of the Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHAs).  Once inside the cells, the acid can plump cells and reduce skin wrinkles on the surface. Glycolic acid is proven to be very effective in the treatment of acne as well.

N-6 furfuryladenine (kinetin) - The nature-identical plant growth factor, furfuryladenine, retards the aging of plant cells as well as in vitro human skin fibroblasts. This natural, anti-aging ingredient has been proven to reduce wrinkles and fine lines and is exclusively found in Kinerase creams and lotions. This is a proven alternative for people with sensitive skin or people who are sensitive to products containing Retinol and Vitamin C.

Copper Peptides – Copper Peptides are the latest scientific breakthrough in skin rejuvenation. Copper has been found to naturally firm the skin, enhance elasticity, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Pal-KTTKS - Pal-KTTKS is an effective ingredient for reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It’s found to promote a smoother, younger complexion quickly, without with out expensive and painful chemical peels, surgery or injections.

Green Tea Extract - Green tea’s anti-inflammatory and anti-growth qualities are found in many skin care products designed to reduce the appearance of puffiness, wrinkles, fine lines and large pores.

TNS - The biotechnology of the skin's natural healing process has arrived with the first tissue repairing complex containing growth factors found in normal, healthy skin. Unlike anything else currently on the market, TNS is the next level of skin rejuvenation that delivers dramatic results, for smoother, softer, younger looking skin.
