Botox Treatments
What are Botox treatments and how are the treatments administered?
Botox is an non-surgical injection treatment that is derived from a purified protein or cosmetic form of botulinum toxin. The Botox injection
does temporarily reduce or eliminate frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck.
How Botox Works The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily
paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance.
A tiny amount of Botox cosmetic is injected into the muscle that creates the dynamic wrinkle. When Botox
is injected into a muscle, it blocks the nerve impulses from reaching the specific area. The result is that the muscle relaxes and the wrinkle
overlying the muscle is smoothed away.
Uses for Botox Treatments Botox is effective in relieving
migraine headaches, excessive sweating and muscle spasms in the neck and eyes.
How Long Does a Botox Treatment last?
The effects of a Botox treatment generally lasts 3-4 months. To maintain lasting effects you must continue
the injections after 3-4 months as an ongoing treatment. After several treatments, the effects of Botox may begin to last longer.
