Botox Treatments
What are
Botox treatments and how are the treatments
administered?
Botox is an non-surgical injection treatment that is derived
from a purified protein or cosmetic form of botulinum toxin.
The Botox injection does temporarily reduce or eliminate frown
lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick
bands in the neck.
How Botox
Works The toxin
blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the
muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a
smoother, more refreshed appearance.
A tiny amount of Botox
cosmetic is injected into the muscle that creates the dynamic
wrinkle. When Botox is injected into a muscle, it blocks the
nerve impulses from reaching the specific area. The result is
that the muscle relaxes and the wrinkle overlying the muscle is
smoothed away.
Uses for Botox
Treatments Botox is
effective in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating
and muscle spasms in the neck and eyes.
How Long Does a
Botox Treatment last?
The effects of a Botox
treatment generally lasts 3-4 months. To maintain lasting
effects you must continue the injections after 3-4 months as an
ongoing treatment. After several treatments, the effects of
Botox may begin to last longer.
Are Botox Treatments
Safe?
These treatments have been used safely and successfully in
ophthalmology and wrinkle therapy for several years and is
considered a very safe treatment when performed by a qualified
physician. The most common side affects with wrinkle therapy is
bruising, however this is temporary and localized to the area
of injection.
Alternative
Botox
Botox injections produce few side
effects and it's very quick. For these reasons it's a
popular treatment for facial wrinkles, crows feet, smile lines,
etc. However, not everyone is thrilled with the idea of
injections and look for topical, home remedies.
While there are lots of products on the market, there are
really only a few that have produced proven results. One
excellent alternative is Vikki Lamotta's 60 second face
lift.
