Home remedies for how to get rid of dark circles under eyes that relieves puffiness, discoloration and restores a refreshed look.

 1. Relieve dark circles under eyes with plenty of rest

Lack of rest and fatigue is a big contributor to dark circles under eyes.

This is probably due to the fact that lack of sleep can make your skin pale and it has also been known to reduce circulation somewhat.

For many, dark circles under eyes will diminish if you can get at least 8 hours of quality sleep a night, remembering that drugs, alcohol and stress greatly affect the quality of your sleep.

3. Don't rub your eyes

Your eyes can get itchy from allergies or other irritants and your first reaction is to rub them, but resist the temptation if you can. Rubbing breaks the small capillaries beneath your skin and that can cause puffiness and discoloration.

Instead of rubbing, try applying a small amount of Blistex’s Lip Medex under your eyes. This can help reduce the dark circles.

Unfortunately this can make your eyes water a little at first, however give it a few minutes for your eyes to adjust and you'll find that it does actually work. Just make sure not to get it in  your eyes.

Try taking Butchers Broom Root. Taken daily, this common herb (used to treat weak circulation, hemorrhoids and varicose veins) has been effective in reducing dark circles.

First thing in the morning lie down in a calm quiet place and apply cool tea bags or cucumber slices to your closed eyes. Lie quietly for 15 minutes.

The tannin in the tea bags reduces swelling and discoloration; the cucumber slices will reduce puffiness while refreshing the appearance of skin around the eyes. You can also place over your eyes a cold washcloth wrapped in ice cubes or cold spoons.

7. Take your vitamins.

Dark circles under the eyes are sometimes caused by light carbon deposits that come from incomplete protein digestion.

Poor protein digestion can come from insufficient hydrochloric acid in your stomach that could be caused from a lack of B6 and Folic Acid.

You may not be absorbing B6 or folic acid and need to take in these vitamins in a different form or another way. You should check with your doctor if you think this might be a cause.
