One of the first things someone notices about you is your eyes.  It's where they look first and your eyes give away a lot about what's on your mind and what kind of person you are because your eyes reveal emotions, attitudes and reactions.

Knowing how to apply your eye makeup can be trickier than applying other makeup because there are so many colors to chose from, shadowing techniques and ways to create subtlety. 

Eye Makeup Techniques 

You can give your eyes depth by using smoky eye shadows and eye liners.  Apply colors evenly and use an eye liner that is thin, the thinner the better.  Uneven colors and wavy black lines will ruin your give a sloppy appearance.

When applying eyeliner to your upper eye lid it helps to use a magnifying mirror   Start from the inner corner of the eye to the middle, then work from the middle to the end.  Use a thin eyeliner and keep your stroke straight and even. If you prefer, you can thicken the line at the outer edge of your lid.

I prefer using liquid eyeliner with a very thin brush.  If you like using a pencil, be sure it is sharpened to as thin a point as you can get it.

When plucking your brows pluck only the underneath hairs, working to form a slight arch.  Avoid plucking the hair above your eyebrow, this can destroy the natural shape of your blow. 

For rounded eyes:
If you're looking to give your rounded eyes a longer appearance extend your eye liner and shadow beyond the outer corner of your eyes, but be sure to blend the corners for a subtle look. 

For the deeper set eyes
If you have deep set eyes avoid eye shadows as they can increase the deep set look.

For Small eyes
Anyone can make their eyes appear  larger by using two shades of shadow. Use a light shade on the upper eye lid and a darker shade on the crease. Apply the lower eye liner from the middle to the outside of the eye as opposed to starting in the corner.

For droopy eyes
Give drooping eyes the lift they need by slightly winging your eyeliner upward and outward as it reaches the outer corner

For bulging eyes
Use a dark shadow and blend it carefully over the prominent part of the upper lids carrying it lightly to the line of the brows
