Control Frizzy Hair
Tips for how To tame and control frizzy
hair
I have curly, frizzy hair and I don't mind telling you, I HATE IT.
Not because it's curly, but because it's frizzy! It's like having a permanent bad perm every day.
Curly hair is a beautiful thing but very few people with curly hair, permed or natural, can avoid the
frizzies.
Here are a few frizzy hair care tips I've used to control frizzy hair that helps keep down the frizz in damp air
and helps tame my curly hair so it looks smooth and attractive all the time :-)
1. Shampoo and Condition for Frizzy hair
Wash hair with a shampoo that isn't a detergent.
You can usually tell if a shampoo isn't harsh because it doesn't suds up as much. You shampoo can clean
your hair without being harsh.
Next, rinse your hair and apply conditioner. After leaving your conditioner on for a few minutes rinse it
with cool or cold water. This helps lock in the conditioning. When drying your hair don't fluff it up in a towel.
Pat it dry and use a wide toothed comb.
If you use lots of hair care products such as pomades, daily straighteners or products with extra hold, you may
need to use a monthly shampoo that rids your hair of residue yet is gentle and won't damage your hair. Otherwise
your hair will collect build-up and begin to feel heavy, straw-like and lose its shine. Use a shampoo such as
Neutragena Anti Residue Shampoo and you'll gain your silky, soft, shiny hair back.
Don't shampoo every day. People with naturally curly hair tend to have dry hair anyway so no need to over dry
it. If you can, try to shampoo every other day.
2. Using Styling products for Frizzy Hair
While hair is wet run a dime size amount of your favorite hair serum into your hands and cover your hair
completely through to the ends. If you have very course hair use a product designed for coarser hair. To be sure
hair is completely covered, bend over exposing the back of your hair, rub serum from your neck to the top of your
hair, then stand up straight and rub the remaining amount of serum beginning from your scalp downward.
5. Limit Blow Drying if your Hair is Frizzy
This isn't really possible if you have frizzy hair, the blow dryer can be your best friend. However don't
use hot settings or hold the blow dryer too close to your hair.
If you like the curly look use a diffuser on your blow dryer, not using one will create frizzy, fly-away
hair.
Styling Tip: One thing I like to do is as I dry each strand of hair follow the dry blow with a
cool shot. This smoothes the hair and gives it nice shiny look.
6. Use non-metal brushes on Frizzy Hair
Stay away from the brushes that have metal in the center.
Everyone likes these brushes because they help your hair dry faster, but if you use a hot dryer they can also
dry out your hair, even burn it.
If you like these brushes, use a lower heat setting.
7. Rinse Frizzy Hair with Cool water
After washing your hair rinse it with cool water. Cool water calms your hair down. I've been using this
tip for sometime now and it does tend to make my hair calmer as well as shinier.
